So.....here it is!!
I have finally finished my book sculpture and I love it!! All I need now is a display box so I am on a mission now to find one. I emailed Su Blackwell last week on where to find a display box and she kindly replied saying she makes her own by hand so if that is what I need to do, then there is no chance!! Unless I make it out of an old cereal box and cling film!!
Anyway, here it is, take a look....

My book scene is coming on nicely....
I have had my latest Thursday class and here are a few photos of what I added to my book sculpture. Including framed windows, open doors, pegs holding up the washing and a well that needs finishing off! I'm hoping next Thursday is going to be the day I can finally give my book sculpture a home and pride of place..... Just need to find a display box! Why are they so expensive!!?
Here we go, take a look and enjoy as much as me! Xxx

A slow process but I'm loving every detail!!
Here are a few pictures of the work I am currently working on in my arts on prescription course. I've been inspired by Su Blackwell; a paper artist well known for her fairy tale book sculptures. They are amazing and so detailed. I thought I would give it a go.... And my word am I glad I did!?!
I have used a standard scalpel to gently carve, score and shape the flowers and plants, and the same for every piece of paper i take from the book. it's taking a lot of patience and extra tough brain power to expand my ideas for the scene, but every week, I add more and it comes to life a little bit more....
Here a few pics for you to nosy at...

Busy Busy Busy!!
Hi there,
Well I know I haven't been on here for quite a few days now but it's all for a good reason! I have been very busy creating away in my little craft corner of our spare room!
I have been making plenty of Canvases to keep me busy, I have also made a peg bag and painted a couple of (rather large) pebbles, they're not rocks!....They're not rocks!?!
The rock's, cough cough........pebbles, didn't quite turn out the way I really visualised but they'll do for me! I think I got the size of the flowers all wrong but who care's right? It's original and different and that's what makes it more 'interesting' hey!
The canvases on the other hand, turned out quite well considering the amount of time I spent on them. Usually if I spend hours upon hours on something I lose concentration, resulting in my lack of enthusiasm and ability, (pretty much what happened with the pebbles) but I took plenty of breaks and started on something new while I had time away from the previous unfinished piece. Only the problem there though, is that I run out of surface space to work on and I'm surrounded by buttons and wet paint brushes to clean up before I make more mess for myself as I move on.....If you saw the amount of buttons I posses and brushes I go through, you'd understand!!
Now don't even get me started on the peg bag I made yesterday! It took me about four hours to make on and off. Two attempts and cutting out the pattern, stitching and restitching and stitching and restitching, and then I got into a bit of a dilemma over which buttons to use to add a bit of charm to it! An hour it took me to decide, an hour!! What's wrong with me, I'm such a perfectionist. That or I'm just too indecisive!! I'll go with a perfectionist! Although I must say, it looks good and my wife is very happy she has a new peg bag........ and the pegs don't have to live in the weighing scales dish any more!
So, that's pretty much the past couple of weeks for me, and I hope you like what I have created..... I do!
Until next time, have a pretty few days xxx

Starting over!
I'll start by introducing myself.... My name is Jessica Green, I am 30 and a half years old! I live with my beautiful wife to be, our two gorgeous, very noisy dogs and our little fish..... he loves to ride the rapids! ( the filter ripples to you and me!!)
I'm on here as I was given some great advice recently from my art tutor on giving myself a purpose, a purpose to create new and unique crafts, then posting them on a blog and writing down little ideas and thoughts when I feel necessary.
You see, 3 years ago I was signed off work with depression and I have had numerous amounts of therapy and counselling and I have found that even though my post traumatic stress therapy went really well and gave me a new view on the situation I am in, that by creating unique pieces such as canvases, paintings, bunting etc really drifts my mind away from the world I really live in. The feeling that I'm a small child hiding away behind a pair of legs every time I leave the house or meet new people. When I'm creating, (which I never knew I had the ability of doing until around 6 months after I was signed off) all those fears leave me alone . The sad thing is though, is that I lost all my UMPHH in making more pieces about 18 months ago and I feel that the only way to build my confidence and inspirations once again is to get creating! And so, as my tutor suggested, by writing a blog and posting my creations on here, it might just give me a purpose to get up, get myself sat at my table and make something new. I don't have to feel pressured into doing it, I don't have to do it everyday, I can just do it when I please, but knowing that this blog is here to come to and record my progress, thoughts and photo's, really does give me the little nudge of purpose I need.
So, as a small reminder to myself and a look into what I can create to you, here are a few pieces I have made in the past.
I hope you enjoy! xxx
